PODCAST: DJ Shakes - Lost in Translation 2

theme: Lost in Translation 2

From the first moment I first saw "Lost in Translation" I wanted to be involved in making the soundtrack of any potential sequel. Thankfully there hasn't been some ill attempt at recreating a movie that more about the table setting than the main dish, about the drive than the destination, more atmosphere than planets.

If that makes sense.

It was one of those movies where you were sorta happy to live inside the character and not have some jarring movie event (e.g. murder!, car crash!, suspense!, intrigue!). Instead characters were just allowed to be. And with that, this is my stab at the soundtrack done by me

T R A C K L IS T I N G (approx 65 minutes)

[0:00] Intro - Me
[1:15] U2 - Zooropa
[6:24] Animal Collective - My Girls
[11:45] Manitoba - Crayon
[13:57] Explosions In The Sky - Your Hand In Mine (with Strings)
[16:04] Radiohead - In Limbo
[18:20] Knife - Heartbeats (Rex The Dog Mix)
[24:06] Sigur Ros - Saeglopur
[30:05] Talvin Singh - Sonic
[34:27] Orbital - Sad But New
[41:00] Pizzicato Five - Sweet Thursday
[44:37] Sufjan Stevens - All The Trees Of The Field Will Clap Their Hands
[48:07] Stereolab - Space Moment
[49:32] Boards of Canada - Triangles and Rhombuses
[50:08] U2/Passengers - Always Forever Now
[54:01] Manitoba - Hendrix With Ko
[57:10] Boards of Canada - Eagle In Your Mind
[59:18] Kings Of Convenience - Parallel Lines
[61:47] Radiohead - Meeting In The Aisle

My goal was to keep the songs in the same spirit as the original, moody but not sad, atmospheric at times, droning electronic music, layers of guitars and a littly bit of whimsy (for the karaoke part)
