a refresher on tatti

By popular demand, my friend Alice, who we shall refer to as "Asian Friend" for anonymity's sake, asked that I do a quick refresher about the proper pronounciation of the word "tatti." Since I strive to make it a part of the lexicon of the English speaking population at large, this seemed like a post-worthy issue. After all, so many of you readers strive to be like me and follow my ways.

"Tatti" as we all know by now means shit. It is pronouced "Tut-tee" and NOT "TA-tee" as Asian Friend feels tempted to say. Resist the temptation. Resist the urge. Avoid the Noid.

While we're at it, "desi" is what you call a person of Indian descent, and it's pronounced "they-see" and NOT "des-ee" as the British chicks from "Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle" say.

You are WAAAAY off. It is tut (as in King Tut) tee (there is only one way for this).

excellent point, your King Tuts reference is a common and popular one (especially in my family), however I think you'll find that whether it's phonetically "tut-ee" or "tuh-tee" it results in the the exact same pronounciation.

that being said i shall use "Tut-ee" as the written pronounciation of choice from now on

by the way VC, for the record i have gone back and changed the pronounciation guide to the more universally accepted "tut-tee" spelling...which oddly enough I had used in previous posts but altered a bit for this one...

Thanks Shakes. What can I say. I am a stickler for accuracy while propagating Indian culture in all its glory - especially something as sacred as tut-tee.

hey if "anti" in the USA is pronounced "an-taai" instead of "an-tea" like in India, then why isnt desi pronounced as "de-saai" ??
